I sometimes wonder about the relationship between the family we are given and our destiny. Is the way we obey/deal with our elders a clue about how we cope/handle our destinies?
We are, all humans, related to each other. Think about that. All shades of skin and lands on this earth: a single family. From a certain perspective, the big-city isolation that makes us feel estranged is weird. There are so many people in a large city that one often feels he or she will never meet this person again, so they remain strangers. Until miraculous connections happen. Then, it’s a small world. Then, it’s a coincidence. Serendipity. Strange.
Our souls are strangers to this world. We are no stranger than each other, although we may be strangers.
That, and … the Holy Prophet, upon whom be blessings and peace, had an aunt who was his father’s twin sister?
His mother was Arwa bint Kurayz ibn Rabi’ah ibn Habib ibn ‘Abd Shams (ibn ‘Abd Manaf) and her mother was Umm Hakim al-Baida’ bint ‘Abd al-Muttalib ibn Hashim and she was the twin sister of the father of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The mother of ‘Uthman was the daughter of the paternal aunt of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
