The Prophet Abraham Learns the Value of Charity

 

Our Master’s ancestor, the blessed Prophet Abraham, is known as Khalīlu-llāh, meaning God’s Friend.  In the course of performing our ritual prayers, both obligatory and customary, we Muslims mention his blessed name a total of fifty-six times each day.  For his plea was accepted when he entreated the Lord God: “You have graciously told me the worth and value in Your sight of one of my descendants, the Primal Light and Messenger-to-be, Muhammad, on him be peace, and of the favors he will confer upon his Community.  My Lord, let my name also not be absent from their tongues.”  So it is that the mention of his name is an important element in the ritual prayers performed by the Community of Muhammad, on him be peace….
